Every program keeps its own enquiry address, read by the program administrator and passed to the head where a decision is needed. It is faster than the general line and the answer is better.

Spend a day in the field
The most useful visit is a field day, run twice each term. Prospective students join a first-year group at Hollowmere for a morning of quadrat work and an afternoon on the transect. Boots and waterproofs are lent from the station store; you need bring nothing but a willingness to get muddy.
The building itself is open for individual tours on weekday afternoons during term. Tours run about forty minutes, take in the microscopy suite and the sequencing bench, and are led by a current student rather than by staff — which produces noticeably more honest answers.
Getting here
- The Ferndale Building is eight minutes on foot from Northgate station, signposted from the eastern exit.
- Hollowmere station is forty kilometers out; transport runs from the building on field days and is free.
- Visitor parking is behind the building and must be requested in advance.
- Step-free access at the Sculthorpe Road entrance, with lift access to every teaching floor.
Accessibility
Every teaching laboratory has height-adjustable benches, and the microscopy suite holds several instruments with camera output for students who cannot use an eyepiece comfortably. Hollowmere has a surfaced accessible survey route with its own established quadrat series, so the adapted protocol produces data that joins the same long-term record rather than a parallel one.
Tell the program office what you need before you enroll rather than after. Adjustments arranged in advance are in place for the first practical; arranged later, they are not.
Ask before you rule yourself out
Most people who assume fieldwork is closed to them have not asked what the adapted route looks like. Tell us the obstacle and we will tell you plainly whether there is a way round it.
